Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre

The Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre (CEOP), formed in April 2006, is a UK cross agency and cross business department of the Serious Organised Crime Agency, which is tasked to work both nationally and internationally to bring online child sex offenders, including those involved in the production, distribution and viewing of child abuse material, to the UK courts.

CEOP will be absorbed into the National Crime Agency by virtue of the Crime and Courts Bill.

Famous quotes containing the words child, exploitation, protection and/or centre:

Raising children is a spur-of-the-moment, seat-of-the-pants sort of deal, as any parent knows, particularly after an adult child says that his most searing memory consists of an offhand comment in the car on the way to second grade that the parent cannot even dimly recall.
    Anna Quindlen (b. 1952)

The elements of success in this business do not differ from the elements of success in any other. Competition is keen and bitter. Advertising is as large an element as in any other business, and since the usual avenues of successful exploitation are closed to the profession, the adage that the best advertisement is a pleased customer is doubly true for this business.
Madeleine [Blair], U.S. prostitute and “madam.” Madeleine, ch. 5 (1919)

A man with convictions finds an answer for everything. Convictions are the best form of protection against the living truth.
    Max Frisch (1911–1991)

Freedom to think our own thoughts, freedom to utter them, freedom to live out the promptings of our inner life ultimated in this convention, was termed a monstrosity of the 19th century. What was it?—the legitimate out-birth of the eternal law of progress. This reformation underlies every other; it is the only healthful centre around which hope of humanity can revolve.
    Harriot K. Hunt (1805–1875)
