Assembly Constituency
Chilakaluripet is an assembly constituency in Andhra Pradesh. Some of the near by villages are Purushottamapatnam, Thimmapuram, Dintenapadu, Edlapadu, Ganapavaram,'Appapuram,kavur, Nadendla, Jaggapuram- Jaladi, Pasumarru, Boppudi, Ganesunivaripalem,Murikipudi,Thathapudi, Manukondavaripalem, Dandamudi,Ramachandrapuram,..veluru, Polireddypalem. Prattipati Pulla Rao (TDP) is the incumbent MLA. He defeated Marri Rajasekhar (INC) in the 2009 state assembly elections.
Karanam Rangarao (CPIM), native of a Veluru, was the first MLA of Chilakaluripet after Independence and served as a village president for 30 years.
