Seeing The Light
The light is an active aid to navigation, and no access is permitted.
From I-94 in Chicago, take exit 50B and proceed east to Lake Michigan and Navy Pier. There is parking on Navy Pier. A good view may be had from its end, from a private boat, or from various tour boats in the area.
