Chevrolet El Camino - Australia, Mexico, South Africa and Middle East

Australia, Mexico, South Africa and Middle East

General Motors manufactured and marketed "utility" coupe-pickup models in Australia as early as the mid 1930s. These Aussie "utes" typically combined the styling of a five-window coupe body with an integrated pickup box. GM's export organization offered a Chevrolet utility as late as 1952. In Mexico, the El Camino was sold as the Chevrolet Conquistador. In South Africa and later Middle East, rebadged Australian Holdens were sold, including the Holden Commodore utility as the Chevrolet El Camino and later the Chevrolet Lumina ute. GM Holden still produces a ute in Australia.

Famous quotes containing the words south, africa, middle and/or east:

... while the South is hardly Christ-centered, it is most certainly Christ-haunted.
    Flannery O’Connor (1925–1964)

For Africa to me ... is more than a glamorous fact. It is a historical truth. No man can know where he is going unless he knows exactly where he has been and exactly how he arrived at his present place.
    Maya Angelou (b. 1928)

Death cut the strings that gave me life,
    And handed me to Sorrow,
The only kind of middle wife
My folks could beg or borrow.
    Countee Cullen (1903–1946)

In order to get to East Russet you take the Vermont Central as far as Twitchell’s Falls and change there for Torpid River Junction, where a spur line takes you right into Gormley. At Gormley you are met by a buckboard which takes you back to Torpid River Junction again.
    Robert Benchley (1889–1945)
