Geography
According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 36.1 square miles (93 km2), of which, 36.1 square miles (93 km2) of it is land and 0.03% is water. Nearly all of the township is in the drainage basin of the Thornapple River, which flows through the northern part. The Little Thornapple River joins the Thornapple in section 11.
