Chertsey - Transport

Transport

Rail

Chertsey is located on the Chertsey Branch Line linking the Waterloo to Reading Line to the South West Main Line in Weybridge, all three currently operated by South West Trains as part of the UK state-owned network, benefiting from a level crossing for local southern town centre traffic and a road bridge sweeping north-south traffic around to the west of the town centre. Weybridge railway station is timetabled as 11 minutes away and the journey time to London Waterloo station varies between 50 minutes to 66 minutes depending on choice of route.

Road

As mentioned the A320 is a mixed dual and single carriageway road connecting Woking to Staines-upon-Thames via Chertsey which is 3 miles (4.8 km) south of Staines Bridge. Scenic Chertsey Bridge was built in the 18th century, see above, this links to Shepperton. Chertsey is close to J11 of the M25 to two sides of the town (one exis bordering Ottershaw) and gives its name to the intersection of a main SSW motorway, the M3 with the M25 London Orbital Motorway.

Famous quotes containing the word transport:

One may disavow and disclaim vices that surprise us, and whereto our passions transport us; but those which by long habits are rooted in a strong and ... powerful will are not subject to contradiction. Repentance is but a denying of our will, and an opposition of our fantasies.
    Michel de Montaigne (1533–1592)
