Chartered Institute of Environmental Health - Function

Function

As well as providing services and information to its members, the CIEH also advises government departments on environmental health and is consulted by them on proposed legislation relevant to the work of environmental health professionals. Its mission is to maintain, enhance and promote improvements in public and environmental health.

The CIEH was also involved as a partner in the development of the Occupational Safety & Health Consultants Register (OSHCR), a centrally held register of qualified health and safety professionals working in the United Kingdom & Northern Ireland, with the intent of making it easier and more convenient for businesses and employers to find recognised health and safety consultants.

Famous quotes containing the word function:

The fact remains that the human being in early childhood learns to consider one or the other aspect of bodily function as evil, shameful, or unsafe. There is not a culture which does not use a combination of these devils to develop, by way of counterpoint, its own style of faith, pride, certainty, and initiative.
    Erik H. Erikson (1904–1994)

The press and politicians. A delicate relationship. Too close, and danger ensues. Too far apart and democracy itself cannot function without the essential exchange of information. Creative leaks, a discreet lunch, interchange in the Lobby, the art of the unattributable telephone call, late at night.
    Howard Brenton (b. 1942)

Advocating the mere tolerance of difference between women is the grossest reformism. It is a total denial of the creative function of difference in our lives. Difference must be not merely tolerated, but seen as a fund of necessary polarities between which our creativity can spark like a dialectic.
    Audre Lorde (1934–1992)
