Charlie's Fateful Return
Charlie was not home a week when he knew he could not stay. He had a brief relationship that ended quickly. Calling his two friends in Bangor, they realized Charlie was hurting and offered him to come back to Bangor.
Charlie returned - in high spirits and determined. He joined the local supportive Unitarian Church on Union Street as well as the group Interweave. Here he made new friends and was accepted for who he was. In thanks for their support, Charlie prepared an Easter dinner for Paul and Scott and decorated their home. Eventually Charlie took an apartment on First Street, near his church and adopted a kitten.

Famous quotes containing the words charlie, fateful and/or return:
“We [actors] are indeed a strange lot! There are times we doubt that we have any emotions we can honestly call our own. I have approached every dynamic scene change in my life the same way. When I married Charlie MacArthur, I sat down and wondered how I could play the best wife that ever was.... My love for him was the truest thing in my life; but it was still important that I love him with proper effect, that I act loving him with great style, that I achieve the ultimate in wifedom.”
—Helen Hayes (19001993)
“The unpredictability inherent in human affairs is due largely to the fact that the by-products of a human process are more fateful than the product.”
—Eric Hoffer (19021983)
“Athletes have studied how to leap and how to survive the leap some of the time and return to the ground. They dont always do it well. But they are our philosophers of actual moments and the body and soul in them, and of our manoeuvres in our emergencies and longings.”
—Harold Brodkey (b. 1930)
