Charles P. Steinmetz Academic Centre (known as Steinmetz High School), is a public 4-year high school located in the Belmont Cragin neighborhood on the northside of Chicago, Illinois. It is a part of the Chicago Public Schools. It is named for the handicapped German-American mathematician and electrical engineer Charles Proteus Steinmetz. Famous quotes containing the words centre and/or academic:

St. Augustine described the nature of God as a circle whose centre was everywhere, and its circumference nowhere.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

If we focus exclusively on teaching our children to read, write, spell, and count in their first years of life, we turn our homes into extensions of school and turn bringing up a child into an exercise in curriculum development. We should be parents first and teachers of academic skills second.
    Neil Kurshan (20th century)
