Charles Miller (gambler)

Charles P. Miller (c. 1851-November 7, 1881) was an American gambler, confidence man and swindler. He was popularly known as "King of the Banco Men", at times sharing that title with fellow tricksters Tom O'Brien and Joseph "Hungry Joe" Lewis, and ran one of the largest banco operations in the United States during the late 19th century.

Famous quotes containing the word miller:

There is nothing strange about fear: no matter in what guise it presents itself it is something with which we are all so familiar that when a man appears who is without it we are at once enslaved by him.
    —Henry Miller (1891–1980)
