Character creation (also character generation or character design) is the process of defining a game character or other character. Typically, a character's individual strengths and weaknesses are represented by a set of statistics. Games with a largely fictional setting may include traits such as race and class. Games with a more contemporary or narrower setting may limit customization to physical and personality traits.

Famous quotes containing the words character and/or creation:
“There are certain stereotypes that are offensive. Some of them dont worry me, though. For instance, I have always thought that Mammy character in Gone with the Wind was mighty funny. And I just loved Amos n Andy on the radio. So you see, I have enough confidence in myself that those things did not bother me. I could laugh.”
—Annie Elizabeth Delany (b. 1891)
“Books choose their authors; the act of creation is not entirely a rational and conscious one.”
—Salman Rushdie (b. 1947)
