Chang'an Automobile Group

Chang'an Automobile (Group) Co Ltd is an automobile manufacturer headquartered in Chongqing, China, and a state-owned enterprise with China Weaponry Equipment as parent.

Its production is primarily composed of no frills passenger cars and mini-vehicles, microvans and microtrucks that see commercial use.

Also known as Chana, the company is currently one of the "top 4" Chinese automakers along with Dongfeng Motor, FAW Group, and Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation. Although it only allowed the company to achieve fourth place, in terms of production, Chang'an made over 2 million whole vehicles in 2011.

A subsidiary, Chongqing Changan Automobile Company (SZSE: 000625), is listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange (but, as of 2007, is also state controlled).

Foreign automakers that have joined joint ventures with Chang'an include Ford, Suzuki, and PSA Peugeot Citroen.

Famous quotes containing the words automobile and/or group:

For a woman to get a rewarding sense of total creation by way of the multiple monotonous chores that are her daily lot would be as irrational as for an assembly line worker to rejoice that he had created an automobile because he tightened a bolt.
    Edith Mendel Stern (1901–1975)

We often overestimate the influence of a peer group on our teenager. While the peer group is most influential in matters of taste and preference, we parents are most influential in more abiding matters of standards, beliefs, and values.
    David Elkind (20th century)
