Naming The New Airport
At first the Airport was to be named Mohali International Airport, since it is in the suburb of Mohali in Chandigarh. But since Chandigarh is a Union Territory, and Haryana will also have a share in the airport, the two states (Punjab and Haryana) have agreed on naming the airport as Chandigarh International Airport or Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport.
