Chak Jhumra - Overview

Overview

The town has an airstrip belonging to the army, but it is rarely used. Chak Jhumra is a railway junction so many people travel through its railway station. The town is connected by road to Salarwala, Shahkot, Khichian, Chiniot and Faisalabad. In Chak Jhumra, a sizeable population uses power looms to earn their livelihood. Public transportation available to this town is in a state of decay. Trains are a major mode of transportation which may not always be punctual.

Despite being a small town, the former prime minister Muhammad Khan Junejo have contested and won elections of National Assembly of Pakistan from Chak Jhumra. However, these high profile parliamentarians could not resolve the problems of the town, which range from transportation to employment opportunities.
