CEU Business School - History and Location

History and Location

CEU Business School was founded in 1988 as International Management Center (IMC). After granting joint degrees with various US schools it became part of the also Soros-founded Central European University in 2002. Until today George Soros is closely connected with the university; amongst other things he personally hands over every Graduate's diploma. At the moment (January 2011) the school is located on the Buda side of the Danube, the address being Frankel Léo út 30-34. As part of CEU's campus redevelopment project it will be relocated to CEU's main campus in downtown Budapest (Nador utca 9-15). In fall 2010 Mel Horwitch, former program director at the MIT Sloan School of Management, has been appointed CEU Business School's new Dean.

Famous quotes containing the words history and and/or history:

There is a constant in the average American imagination and taste, for which the past must be preserved and celebrated in full-scale authentic copy; a philosophy of immortality as duplication. It dominates the relation with the self, with the past, not infrequently with the present, always with History and, even, with the European tradition.
    Umberto Eco (b. 1932)

History is the present. That’s why every generation writes it anew. But what most people think of as history is its end product, myth.
    —E.L. (Edgar Lawrence)
