Centre For Cultural Decontamination

The Centre for Cultural Decontamination (Centar za kulturnu dekontaminaciju) is an independent cultural institution located in Belgrade, Serbia. The centre was established in 1994 as a response to the political and cultural climate in Serbia.

The centre works against "nationalism, xenophobia, intolerance, hatred and fear." The institute functions as a gallery, community and a professional forum.

Famous quotes containing the words centre and/or cultural:

Freedom to think our own thoughts, freedom to utter them, freedom to live out the promptings of our inner life ultimated in this convention, was termed a monstrosity of the 19th century. What was it?—the legitimate out-birth of the eternal law of progress. This reformation underlies every other; it is the only healthful centre around which hope of humanity can revolve.
    Harriot K. Hunt (1805–1875)

A society that has made “nostalgia” a marketable commodity on the cultural exchange quickly repudiates the suggestion that life in the past was in any important way better than life today.
    Christopher Lasch (b. 1932)
