Central Catholic Marianist High School - Student Life

Student Life

Central Catholic is a school with a very notorious and energetic student life. Section "R" has been a huge part of student life at Central Catholic. Led by the seniors, Section "R" is known around San Antonio as the loudest and most rowdy student section in the city. Many schools try to imitate Central's excellent student section, such as Antonian's "The Tribe", a weak attempt to match the boys of Section "R". Holy Cross has a section they call Section "Ñ". And even the public school, Churchill has a student body section they call "The Rowdy Row". But just like the others, none of these compare to the one and only Section "R". The Mudbowl is the name of the student parking lot. The lot is nothing more than rocks and dirt, so when it rains, the boys get into their cars and drive through the mud. The Mudbowl has also been the meeting/hangout place for Central boys for many years. From the annual Spring Break waterbaloon fight from the Class of 2013, to firework explosions, the Mudbowl has been a vital part of the student life.

Famous quotes containing the words student and/or life:

But suppose, asks the student of the professor, we follow all your structural rules for writing, what about that “something else” that brings the book alive? What is the formula for that? The formula for that is not included in the curriculum.
    Fannie Hurst (1889–1968)

The principal thing children are taught by hearing these lullabies is respect. They are taught to respect certain things in life and certain people. By giving respect, they hope to gain self-respect and through self-respect, they gain the respect of others. Self-respect is one of the qualities my people stress and try to nurture, and one of the controls an Indian has as he grows up. Once you lose your self-respect, you just go down.
    Henry Old Coyote (20th century)
