Famous quotes containing the words peace and/or efforts:
“But he her fears to cease
Sent down the meek-eyed Peace;
She, crowned with olive green, came softly sliding
Down through the turning sphere,
His ready harbinger,
With turtle wing the amorous clouds dividing,
And waving wide her myrtle wand,
She strikes a universal peace through sea and land.”
—John Milton (1608–1674)
“It’s immoral to steal, but you can take things.
The dignity of his office is never impaired by the absence of efforts on his part to maintain it.”
—Charles Dickens (1812–1870)
