Central American And Caribbean Championships

The Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Championships is an international track and field athletics event organised by the Central American and Caribbean Athletic Confederation (CACAC). Only athletes representing a member nation of the confederation may compete. Created in 1967, the event has been held every two years except for when the 2007 edition was competed in 2008 instead. The last edition of the Championships was held between 3–5 July 2009.

It should not be confused with the NACAC Championships, which includes competitors from North America.

Famous quotes containing the words central, american and/or caribbean:

In a large university, there are as many deans and executive heads as there are schools and departments. Their relations to one another are intricate and periodic; in fact, “galaxy” is too loose a term: it is a planetarium of deans with the President of the University as a central sun. One can see eclipses, inner systems, and oppositions.
    Jacques Barzun (b. 1907)

European society has always been divided into classes in a way that American society never has been. A European writer considers himself to be part of an old and honorable tradition—of intellectual activity, of letters—and his choice of a vocation does not cause him any uneasy wonder as to whether or not it will cost him all his friends. But this tradition does not exist in America.
    James Baldwin (1924–1987)

It is a curious thing to be a woman in the Caribbean after you have been a woman in these United States.
    Zora Neale Hurston (1891–1960)
