Center For Technology and Systems Management

The Center for Technology and Systems Management (CTSM) is a research center at the A. James Clark School of Engineering of the University of Maryland, College Park, United States. Established in 1996, the center includes both University of Maryland faculty and staff and external associates. It is involved in research in systems engineering, including functional modeling, technology forecasting, and assessment; human and organizational factors; expert opinion elicitation; reliability, risk, and uncertainty analysis; failure, crash and accident investigation, including forensic engineering; information technology; project management including network optimization and equilibrium problems; and robotics, automation, control and intelligent systems.

The CTSM "develops technologies and creatively utilize sophisticated analytical tools to meet a set of objectives for decision situations relating to various systems, such as defense, homeland security, maritime, infrastructure, facility, health, intelligent and equipment systems." The CTSM trains graduate students and researchers.

Professor Bilal M. Ayyub is the director of the Center.

Famous quotes containing the words center, technology, systems and/or management:

    My center is giving way, my right is in retreat; situation excellent. I shall attack.
    Ferdinand Foch (1851–1929)

    Radio put technology into storytelling and made it sick. TV killed it. Then you were locked into somebody else’s sighting of that story. You no longer had the benefit of making that picture for yourself, using your imagination. Storytelling brings back that humanness that we have lost with TV. You talk to children and they don’t hear you. They are television addicts. Mamas bring them home from the hospital and drag them up in front of the set and the great stare-out begins.
    Jackie Torrence (b. 1944)

    Our little systems have their day;
    They have their day and cease to be:
    They are but broken lights of thee,
    And thou, O Lord, art more than they.
    Alfred Tennyson (1809–1892)

    The care of a house, the conduct of a home, the management of children, the instruction and government of servants, are as deserving of scientific treatment and scientific professors and lectureships as are the care of farms, the management of manure and crops, and the raising and care of stock.
    Catherine E. Beecher (1800–1878)
