CDP323 - Mechanism of Action

Mechanism of Action

The mechanism of action of CDP323 were believed to rely on preventing immune cells to migrate from blood vessels through the vessel walls to reach various inflamed tissues, including the brain. This mechanism is thought to prevent overshooting immune reactions and subsequent tissue damage as seen during uncontrolled immune cell migration as in multiple sclerosis. CDP323 has the same mechanism of action as the monoclonal antibody natalizumab.

Famous quotes containing the words mechanism of, mechanism and/or action:

Life is an offensive, directed against the repetitious mechanism of the Universe.
    Alfred North Whitehead (1861–1947)

The two elements the traveler first captures in the big city are extrahuman architecture and furious rhythm. Geometry and anguish. At first glance, the rhythm may be confused with gaiety, but when you look more closely at the mechanism of social life and the painful slavery of both men and machines, you see that it is nothing but a kind of typical, empty anguish that makes even crime and gangs forgivable means of escape.
    Federico García Lorca (1898–1936)

Without our being especially conscious of the transition, the word “parent” has gradually come to be used as much as a verb as a noun. Whereas we formerly thought mainly about “being a parent,” we now find ourselves talking about learning how “to parent.” . . . It suggests that we may now be concentrating on action rather than status, on what we do rather than what or who we are.
    Bettye M. Caldwell (20th century)
