Carroll Independent School District - Mascot

Mascot

School spirit is exceptionally strong in the district: all of its schools share the same colors (green, white, and black) and the same mascot (the Dragon). The current Carroll Dragon logo, c. 1984–present, (a dragon, in the school colors, emitting lightning from its mouth, superimposed over an outline of the State of Texas) is among the most recognized logos in the area. The mascot was created by a student in the mid-eighties by combining an outline of Texas with a US Navy fighter squadron emblem. The logo was first used in the 1980s as helmet emblems for the Carroll Dragon Varsity Football teams and gradually adopted as the district mascot. The previous High School mascot was a more serpent like dragon image and could still be found on school memorabilia and district buildings throughout the 1980s and 1990s. Carroll Intermediate School's previous mascot was the Knights.
