The Troubles in Carnlough

On the 4th of June 1980 Irish Independence Party member and Larne Borough Council councillor John Turnley was murdered by the Ulster Defence Association as he drove to attend a political meeting on the Marine Road.

On the 19th of April 1987 Loyalist bandsman and Ulster Defence Association member Andrew Mason was found beaten to death after taking part in a Loyalist march in Carnlough.He died from his injuries received in the attack.
