Additionally, the teachers receive a defined benefit pension, health insurance, professional development reimbursement, personal days, sick days, and other benefits.
In December 2011, the school board and teachers union agreed to an early bird, three year contract. Beginning in July 2012 the teachers agreed to a wage freeze for 2012-13, a $1500 raise for 2013-14 and a $1,600 raise for the 2014-15 school year.

The district is funded by a combination of: a local earned income tax, a property tax, a real estate transfer tax, coupled with substantial funding from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the federal government. In the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, pension income and Social Security income are exempted from state personal income tax and local earned income tax, regardless the of personal wealth.
