Carlynton School District

The Carlynton School District is a small, suburban, public school district located approximately six miles west of downtown Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The district covers five square miles including: the Boroughs of Carnegie, Crafton and Rosslyn Farms. From these communities comes the name Carlynton (CARnegie, RossLYN Farms and CrafTON. According to 2000 federal census data, it serves a resident population of 15,559. In 2009, the district residents' per capita income was $22,323, while the median family income was $46,345. Per District officials, in school year 2005-06 the Carlynton SD provided basic educational services to 1,550 pupils through the employment of 111 teachers, 78 full-time and part-time support personnel, and 9 administrators. Carlynton School District received more than $6.2 million in state funding in school year 2005-06. The district operates three schools: two elementary schools K-6th and one junior senior high school grades 7th-12th.
