Carlos Tenorio - International

International

In June 2006 Tenorio scored his first ever World Cup goal with the opener in Ecuador's 2-0 victory over Poland. He scored his second a week later, opening the score in Ecuador's 3-0 drubbing of Costa Rica. This put him in one of the top ten goalscorers in the tournament, as he was not only one of Ecuador's outstanding players in the FIFA World Cup, but was one of the tournament's most eye-catching performers with his powerful and breathtaking displays. Tenorio almost gave Ecuador ultimate glory after his shot hit the post against England in the FIFA World Cup 2006 with a deflection from Ashley Cole.

Now reaching his peak years, he will be called upon once again to fill the void left behind by the now retired legend, Agustin Delgado, upfront.

He has since scored many goals since Delgado's departure (TIHO). He scored one in a 4-2 friendly loss to Mexico national football team in San Francisco in 2007. He scored one goal against Sweden in a very unexpected 2-1 win by the Ecuadorians. He recently was given the #9 shirt for the World Cup Qualifiers. After Sixto Vizuete took charge of the national team, he has recently left him out of several call-ups. But he was once again chosen to play for Ecuador for the qualifiers against Peru & Argentina. He scored a goal in the 2-1 away victory in Lima.
