Education and Personal Life

Boyd attended Tennessee State University and graduated in 2010 double majoring Speech & Theatre and Radio/Television. While a junior in school, Boyd started his radio program "Nothing But The Truth" on Tennessee State University campus radio in the fall of 2009. The program became a popular hit in the community and campus. Boyd's first guest was Lt. Gov of Tennessee Ron Ramsey. http://susanmwest.wordpress.com/2009/10/14/too-much-apathy-on-tsu-campus/, http://tsunews.wordpress.com/about/, http://susanmwest.wordpress.com/2009/10/08/ramsey-guest-on-tsu-radio/

Boyd began to make community aware of the spending problem in the city of Nashville because of new convention center project that was going to cost 1 billion dollars. Boyd invited city council members on the show to discuss the project, with some resistance at first from the vice-mayor Diane Neighbors who did not want any of them to come on the show. http://nashvillecitypaper.com/content/city-news/rex-titans-crash-vanderbilt-fundraiser

In the spring of 2011 Boyd's hardwork paid off when he got a radio offer from one of the local station in the city of Nashville WMDB 880AM "THE BIG MOUTH". http://www.radio-info.com/newsletter/html/uf-01122011.html. While on WMDB 880AM Boyd took his program to another level. He rentlessly went after the corruption of Davidson Criminal Court Clerk David Torrence. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=weCR8iiOXqk, http://www.wsmv.com/story/14890030/formal-complaint-calls-for-court-clerks-removal. After weeks of no one doing anything to Torrence, Boyd called for a protest at his office. Boyd led a small group of protestors outside of Torrence's office http://www.wsmv.com/story/14701679/torrence-considers-paying-taxpayers-back-for-playing-hooky. This eventually led to the Davidson County District Attorney Torry Johnson to take action against Torrence and forced him to resign. http://www.wsmv.com/story/15037906/david-torrence-to-resign

With local elections coming up in the fall of 2011, Boyd decided to use his program to allow all candidates to appear calling it "Meet the Candidates". This venure allow the candidates to discuss their platform and answer tough questions from Boyd. It became so popular the number #1 print newspaper the Tennessean took notice of it. http://blogs.tennessean.com/politics/2011/metro-candidate-audio-abounds-on-wmdb/.

By that time another scandal emerged in the city. This scandal invloved Davidson County Clerk John Arriola. A special investigating report from Phil Williams from News Channel 5 reveiled that Arriola was illegally charging people $40 dolloars cash to perform weddings which was supposed to be part of his job. As he did with David Torrence, Boyd led a small group of protestors to Arriola's office demanding he resigns. http://www.newschannel5.com/story/15125639/protestors-demand-arriola-resignation. He found out quickly this was not going to be an easy task because Arriola had deep democratic ties. The city elites was protecting Arriola.

In the midst of leading the charge to have Arriola removed from office, WMDB was experiencing some financial problems. In November 2011, the owners sold WMDB. The new owners of WMDB decided to change its format from talk radio to Spanish music.http://www.radio-info.com/news/nashvilles-wmdb-880-is-now-el-sol This change sent Boyd packing and looking for another station. He was the only radio show host to lead the charge against corruption in Tennessee.

During that time off the air Boyd stayed active by doing political analyst work, seminars and commentating. Boyd has appeared on Fox news, CNN and MSNBC. In the midst of waiting for another shot to get back on the radio, Boyd did volunteer work at the mission and youth centers. Finally after not being on the air for 5 months WWTN SUPERTALK 99.7 in Nashville came calling and offer him a spot on the weekend.

Boyd also pondered running for Mayor, but decided radio would be the best avenue to get his message out. http://blogs.tennessean.com/politics/tag/carl-boyd/

Boyd has interviewed, US Senators Bob Corker, Lamar Alexander, Harry Reid, Chuck Grassley, former Muslim Nonie Darwish, Gov. Jan Brewer, former CIA director R. James Woolsey and many others.

Boyd is also, an ordained preacher. He attended American Baptist College and Immanuel Bible College. He believes as being an African American Independent Christian Conservative it is important to stand with the word of God on social issues and not waver. http://www.nbttr.com/about_CBJr.html

Famous quotes containing the words education and, education, personal and/or life:

Shakespeare, with an improved education and in a more enlightened age, might easily have attained the purity and correction of Racine; but nothing leads one to suppose that Racine in a barbarous age would have attained the grandeur, force and nature of Shakespeare.
    Horace Walpole (1717–1797)

It is hardly surprising that children should enthusiastically start their education at an early age with the Absolute Knowledge of computer science; while they are unable to read, for reading demands making judgments at every line.... Conversation is almost dead, and soon so too will be those who knew how to speak.
    Guy Debord (b. 1931)

Whatever an artist’s personal feelings are, as soon as an artist fills a certain area on the canvas or circumscribes it, he becomes historical. He acts from or upon other artists.
    Willem De Kooning (b. 1904)

The fondness or indifference that the philosophers expressed for life was merely a preference inspired by their self-love, and will no more bear reasoning upon than the relish of the palate or the choice of colors.
François, Duc De La Rochefoucauld (1613–1680)
