Migration To North America
Most North American Careys encounter less difficulty in establishing the origins of their surname. Many are able to trace their family origins back to Ireland via one of the several waves of emigration there throughout the centuries. Given that the movement of Careys from Ireland has been almost exclusively one way (outbound), this significantly reduces the dilemma over the origin of their surname.

Famous quotes containing the words north america, north and/or america:
“New York is a meeting place for every race in the world, but the Chinese, Armenians, Russians, and Germans remain foreigners. So does everyone except the blacks. There is no doubt but that the blacks exercise great influence in North America, and, no matter what anyone says, they are the most delicate, spiritual element in that world.”
—Federico García Lorca (18981936)
“We have heard all of our lives how, after the Civil War was over, the South went back to straighten itself out and make a living again. It was for many years a voiceless part of the government. The balance of power moved away from itto the north and the east. The problems of the north and the east became the big problem of the country and nobody paid much attention to the economic unbalance the South had left as its only choice.”
—Lyndon Baines Johnson (19081973)
“Nature in America has always been suspect, on the defensive, cannibalized by progress. In America, every specimen becomes a relic.”
—Susan Sontag (b. 1933)
