Capital Connection (TV Series) - History

History

Capital Connection replaced Today's Business (also hosted by Steve Sedgwick), an early morning pre-market programme originating from CNBC Europe which also aired on CNBC Asia and CNBC World.

Prior to Capital Connection, another show anchored from two continents was Market Watch (later renamed Global Market Watch). Unlike Capital Connection, this show was produced by CNBC Europe. It was originally anchored by Geoff Cutmore from London and Cecilia Zecha from Singapore but it was later hosted exclusively from London by Simon Hobbs. The show ended its run in early 2001.

Steve Sedgwick served as European anchor from the launch of the programme until 28 November 2008. He then left the programme to work full time for Squawk Box Europe and was replaced by Rebecca Meehan on 1 November 2008 and in 2010 by Anna Edwards. After Edwards departed at the end of 2011, Meehan returned as the programme's European anchor in 2012.

Maura Fogarty served as Asian anchor from the launch until March 2010, when she was replaced by Chloe Cho.

Famous quotes containing the word history:

I believe my ardour for invention springs from his loins. I can’t say that the brassiere will ever take as great a place in history as the steamboat, but I did invent it.
    Caresse Crosby (1892–1970)

America is the only nation in history which, miraculously, has gone directly from barbarism to degeneration without the usual interval of civilization.
    Attributed to Georges Clemenceau (1841–1929)

The history of any nation follows an undulatory course. In the trough of the wave we find more or less complete anarchy; but the crest is not more or less complete Utopia, but only, at best, a tolerably humane, partially free and fairly just society that invariably carries within itself the seeds of its own decadence.
    Aldous Huxley (1894–1963)
