The Cape golden mole (Chrysochloris asiatica) is a small, insectivorous mammal of the family Chrysochloridae, the golden moles. It is native to certain south western regions of South Africa.
Famous quotes containing the words cape, golden and/or mole:
“The Great South Beach of Long Island,... though wild and desolate, as it wants the bold bank,... possesses but half the grandeur of Cape Cod in my eyes, nor is the imagination contented with its southern aspect.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
“Flushed with new life, the crowd flows back again:
And all is tangled talk and mazy motion
Much like a waving field of golden grain,
Or a tempestuous ocean.
And thus they give the time, that Nature meant
For peaceful sleep and meditative snores,
To ceaseless din and mindless merriment
And waste of shoes and floors.”
—Lewis Carroll [Charles Lutwidge Dodgson] (18321898)
“On her left breast
A mole cinque-spotted, like the crimson drops
I th bottom of a cowslip.”
—William Shakespeare (15641616)
