Sustainability

The Residence Hall Association made efforts to be more environmentally friendly by replacing all incandescent light bulbs with compact fluorescents and by promoting the Go Green Competition between dormitories. In addition the university distributed “Go Green and Maroon” pamphlets on a variety of topics ranging from setting up one's kitchen to making one's summer plans environmentally sustainable in order to convince students to live in a manner that is more environmentally friendly. All new residences will also be LEED certified, which helped Texas A&M receive a B on The Green Report Card in the Green Building Category. While, Texas A&M only received a C+ overall, students are becoming more and more engaged in making the school a more environmentally friendly institution. The Aggies also have many opportunities to not only clean up their campus, but also help in the surrounding community. Students pick up trash and recyclables in Galveston State Park, along nearby highways, and after every home football game.
