Campbell Apartment

The Campbell Apartment is a public bar and cocktail lounge located in a corner of Grand Central Terminal in New York City. It faces Vanderbilt Avenue. Contrary to its name, the space was never an apartment, but was once the office of American financier John W. Campbell, who served on the New York Central's Board of Directors.

Famous quotes containing the words campbell and/or apartment:

    There was silence deep as death;
    And the boldest held his breath
    For a time.
    —Thomas Campbell (1774–1844)

    The surprise of animals... in and out, cats and dogs and a milk goat and chickens and guinea hens, all taken for granted, as if man was intended to live on terms of friendly intercourse with the rest of creation instead of huddling in isolation on the fourteenth floor of an apartment house in a city where animals occurred behind bars in the zoo.
    Elizabeth Janeway (b. 1913)
