Camp Sunshine is a non-profit retreat and camp located on the shore of Sebago Lake, Maine that provides children with life-threatening illnesses and their immediate families hope for the future, as well as immediate help in dealing with a child's chronic illness. The camp is currently the only program in the United States that aids in lightening the impact of a life-threatening illness on a person's entire immediate family, not just the person with the illness.
Famous quotes containing the words camp and/or sunshine:
“Grandfather, you were the pillar of fire in front of the camp and now we are left in the camp alone, in the dark; and we are so cold and so sad.”
—Noa Ben-Artzi Philosof (b. 1978)
“Humes doctrine was that the circumstances vary, the amount of happiness does not; that the beggar cracking fleas in the sunshine under a hedge, and the duke rolling by in his chariot; the girl equipped for her first ball, and the orator returning triumphant from the debate, had different means, but the same quantity of pleasant excitement.”
—Ralph Waldo Emerson (18031882)
