Cambridge University Gray's Inn Association

The Cambridge University Gray's Inn Association is a student-run society of the University of Cambridge which acts as a bridge between the University and Gray's Inn, one of the four Inns of Court of the United Kingdom.

The Association traditionally holds two events per year. The annual drinks reception brings senior members of the Inn, notably its Treasurer and Under-Treasurer, to Cambridge to address and meet students. The annual dinner, which alternates between Gray's Inn and Cambridge, allows barristers, benchers and students to dine together in a formal setting. Recent events have been attended by such figures as Lord Justice Jacob, Lord Justice Ward and Major-General David Jenkins.

The Association is run by a Committee comprising three student members (the President, the Secretary and the Junior Treasurer) and a Senior Treasurer, a tutor.

Famous quotes containing the words cambridge, university, gray, inn and/or association:

The dons of Oxford and Cambridge are too busy educating the young men to be able to teach them anything.
    Samuel Butler (1835–1902)

I had a classmate who fitted for college by the lamps of a lighthouse, which was more light, we think, than the University afforded.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

O’er her warm cheek and rising bosom move
The bloom of young desire and purple light of love.
    —Thomas Gray (1716–1771)

I have had the accomplishment of something like this at heart ever since I was a boy.... So I feel tonight like the man who is lodging happily in the inn which lies half way along the journey and that in time, with a fresh impulse, we shall go the rest of the journey and sleep at the journey’s end like men with a quiet conscience.
    Woodrow Wilson (1856–1924)

In this great association we know no North, no South, no East, no West. This has been our pride for all these years. We have no political party. We never have inquired what anybody’s religion is. All we ever have asked is simply, “Do you believe in perfect equality for women?” This is the one article in our creed.
    Susan B. Anthony (1820–1906)
