Iron Ore Grade (Type I)
Iron Ore bodies in the region are described as having two distinct classes:
Type I is a direct/export grade, approximately 60%Fe. This can be further upgraded by magnetic separation to >65%Fe.
Type II is 40-45% Fe, with a sulphur content of 2-4%. The sulphur is removed by vaporisation in a rotary furnace and collecting the vapour in a ‘scrubber plant’ as sulphuric acid powder, along with other contaminants.
The Company’s plans to establish a Rotary furnace on site will provide greater flexibility to additional reserves of Iron Ore in the region.
