Famous quotes containing the words renewal, operating and/or license:
“The great renewal of the world will perhaps consist in this, that man and maid, freed of all false feelings and reluctances, will seek each other not as opposites, but as brother and sister, as neighbors, and will come together as human beings.”
—Rainer Maria Rilke (18751926)
“Many people operate under the assumption that since parenting is a natural adult function, we should instinctively know how to do itand do it well. The truth is, effective parenting requires study and practice like any other skilled profession. Who would even consider turning an untrained surgeon loose in an operating room? Yet we operate on our children every day.”
—Louise Hart (20th century)
“Surely the fates are forever kind, though Natures laws are more immutable than any despots, yet to mans daily life they rarely seem rigid, but permit him to relax with license in summer weather. He is not harshly reminded of the things he may not do.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
