Famous quotes containing the words california, public, utilities and/or commission:

The attraction and superiority of California are in its days. It has better days & more of them, than any other country.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

The more you stay in this kind of job, the more you realize that a public figure, a major public figure, is a lonely man.
    Richard M. Nixon (1913–1995)

Flowers and fruits are always fit presents; flowers, because they are a proud assertion that a ray of beauty outvalues all of the utilities of the world. These gay natures contrast with the somewhat stern countenance of ordinary nature: they are like music heard out of a work-house.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

When a man has so far corrupted and prostituted the chastity of his mind as to subscribe his professional belief to things he does not believe he has prepared himself for the commission of every other crime.
    Thomas Paine (1737–1809)
