Caleb Stegall - Politics

Politics

Stegall has been identified as an advocate for traditionalist conservatism and a "prairie populist". In 2004 he was profiled on the front page of the New York Times as one of a young generation of conservatives questioning GOP orthodoxy. On January 12, 2009, Stegall began his first term as Jefferson County District Attorney. He has been characterized by the popular and politically left publication Firedoglake as a "rising political star" of the right, has been suggested as a possible candidate for U.S. Senate, and has been described as representing a new path for the GOP in the post-Bush years.

Famous quotes containing the word politics:

Man made one grave mistake: in answer to vaguely reformist and humanitarian agitation he admitted women to politics and the professions. The conservatives who saw this as the undermining of our civilization and the end of the state and marriage were right after all; it is time for the demolition to begin.
    Germaine Greer (b. 1939)

The real grounds of difference upon important political questions no longer correspond with party lines.... Politics is no longer the topic of this country. Its important questions are settled... Great minds hereafter are to be employed on other matters.... Government no longer has its ancient importance.... The people’s progress, progress of every sort, no longer depends on government. But enough of politics. Henceforth I am out more than ever.
    Rutherford Birchard Hayes (1822–1893)

I believe you to be a brave and a skillful soldier, which, of course, I like. I also believe you do not mix politics with your profession, in which you are right.
    Abraham Lincoln (1809–1865)
