Demographics
According to the 2010 census, Calbayog has a population of 172,778, this makes up for 23.5% of the entire population of Samar. About 80% of the population speaks Waray-waray, 15% Cebuano, 2% Tagalog, 1% Masbatenyo and 2% other languages. English and Tagalog are mainly used in the Business and Educational sectors. Calbayognons are predominantly Roman Catholic, but it also has a notable Muslim presence. Small Christian minority groups are also present in the city.
