Production
In October 2012, GM announced that the ELR will be built at the Detroit Hamtramck Assembly Plant, together with the Chevrolet Volt, Opel Ampera, and Holden Volt, where the family of extended-range electric vehicles are exported to 21 countries. The addition of the ELR to the plant represents an additional US$35 million investment, bringing the total product investment to US$561 million since December 2009. Production is scheduled to begin by late 2013, with sales starting in early 2014 in North America and expand to global markets including China and Europe.
General Motors rolled the first 2014 Cadillac ELRs off the production line in late May 2013. These vehicles are pre-production units destined for testing purposes before production for retail customers start by the end of 2013.

Famous quotes containing the word production:
“The production of too many useful things results in too many useless people.”
—Karl Marx (18181883)
“An art whose limits depend on a moving image, mass audience, and industrial production is bound to differ from an art whose limits depend on language, a limited audience, and individual creation. In short, the filmed novel, in spite of certain resemblances, will inevitably become a different artistic entity from the novel on which it is based.”
—George Bluestone, U.S. educator, critic. The Limits of the Novel and the Limits of the Film, Novels Into Film, Johns Hopkins Press (1957)
“... if the production of any commodity necessitates the sacrifice of human life, society should do without that commodity, but it can not do without that life.”
—Emma Goldman (18691940)
