Cable 8 Productions - History

History

Cable 8 Productions has served the students of Washington State University since 1986. Founded by Professor W. Neal Robison, Cable 8 was created to give students hand on experience producing and directing TV shows while attending the Edward R. Murrow School of Communication.

Cable 8 went on air with three original shows: Live at 8, Video Underground, and a movie review show. Quickly becoming popular with the student population, Live at 8 won numerous national broadcasting awards and even had a guest appearance from actor Rob Schneider.

Over the years, Cable 8 has grown considerably in its facilities, responsibilities, and general programming. During the Spring 2007 season, Cable 8 produced and aired nine original shows including a music video show, a political talk show, a dating show, a sports reality show, an intramural sports show and others.

Famous quotes containing the word history:

Three million of such stones would be needed before the work was done. Three million stones of an average weight of 5,000 pounds, every stone cut precisely to fit into its destined place in the great pyramid. From the quarries they pulled the stones across the desert to the banks of the Nile. Never in the history of the world had so great a task been performed. Their faith gave them strength, and their joy gave them song.
    William Faulkner (1897–1962)

It is my conviction that women are the natural orators of the race.
Eliza Archard Connor, U.S. suffragist. As quoted in History of Woman Suffrage, vol. 4, ch. 9, by Susan B. Anthony and Ida Husted Harper (1902)

In nature, all is useful, all is beautiful. It is therefore beautiful, because it is alive, moving, reproductive; it is therefore useful, because it is symmetrical and fair. Beauty will not come at the call of a legislature, nor will it repeat in England or America its history in Greece. It will come, as always, unannounced, and spring up between the feet of brave and earnest men.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)
