Current Council of State

The current Council of State, the 72nd since Finland's independence, was inaugurated by President Tarja Halonen on 22 June 2011.

The current Council of State is a right-left, 19-minister coalition consisting of the National Coalition Party (kokoomus), the Social Democratic Party (sosiaalidemokraatit), the Left Alliance (vasemmistoliitto), the Green League (vihreƤt), the Swedish People's Party (svenska folkpartiet; ruotsalainen kansanpuolue) and the Christian Democrats (kristillisdemokraatit).

The Chancellor of Justice is not a member of the Council of State but must by law attend its every meeting.

Famous quotes containing the words current, council and/or state:

It is not however, adulthood itself, but parenthood that forms the glass shroud of memory. For there is an interesting quirk in the memory of women. At 30, women see their adolescence quite clearly. At 30 a woman’s adolescence remains a facet fitting into her current self.... At 40, however, memories of adolescence are blurred. Women of this age look much more to their earlier childhood for memories of themselves and of their mothers. This links up to her typical parenting phase.
    Terri Apter (20th century)

Wandering the face of the earth a fatherless child....
    Allen Tate (1899–1979)

I see reporters here, and therefore I will simply say that everybody showed a great deal of interest in the occasion, and distributed tracts and political documents all through the country.
    Chester A. Arthur (1829–1886)
