Current Cabinet
Following the 2010 federal election the Australian Labor Party secured the support of three independents and one Green member of the House of Representatives to enable it to form a government. On 11 September 2010, the Prime Minister Julia Gillard announced her new Cabinet which included the former Prime Minister Kevin Rudd as Minister for Foreign Affairs.
Interestingly the Cabinet Secretary is no longer part of Cabinet, being relegated to a Parliamentary Secretary position and the Special Minister of State position has also been taken out of Cabinet and is now in the Outer Ministry. Both positions were previously held by a Senior Minister within Cabinet, consecutively by Senators John Faulkner and Joseph Ludwig in the previous Rudd and Gillard Cabinets.
