Burghfield has an enviable record in developing junior and youth talent with sailors established in the various RYA squads and competing at the top level of junior and youth sailing.

Thursday evenings the Sailability group provides sailing for the club's disabled members.

For members not wishing to compete in the club racing there is the Admiral's Club providing social sailing.

During the week when there are no organised sailing events the club is popular with windsurfers.

Famous quotes containing the word sailing:

    To sunny waters some
By fatal instinct fly; where on the pool
They sportive wheel, or, sailing down the stream,
Are snatched immediate by the quick-eyed trout
    Or darting salmon.
    James Thomson (1700–1748)

O western orb sailing the heaven,
Now I know what you must have meant as a month since I walked,
As I walked in silence the transparent shadowy night,
    Walt Whitman (1819–1892)

Theologians should not be ashamed to admit that they cannot enter a contest with such antagonists [the sceptics], and that they do not want to expose the Gospel truths to such an attack. The ship of Jesus Christ is not made for sailing on this stormy sea, but for taking shelter from this tempest in the haven of faith.
    Pierre Bayle (1647–1706)
