Later Life

Longrigg was an important figure in the administration of Somerset cricket for much of the rest of his life, acting as both county chairman and president. Famous quotes containing the word life:

Life isn’t meant to be easy. It’s hard to take being on the top—or on the bottom. I guess I’m something of a fatalist. You have to have a sense of history, I think, to survive some of these things.... Life is one crisis after another.
    Richard M. Nixon (1913–1995)

If it is asserted that civilization is a real advance in the condition of man,—and I think that it is, though only the wise improve their advantages,—it must be shown that it has produced better dwellings without making them more costly; and the cost of a thing is the amount of what I will call life which is required to be exchanged for it, immediately or in the long run.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
