International Operations
A subsidiary, Bumrungrad International Ltd. (BIL), was established in 2005 to focus on the acquisition, development and management of hospitals and healthcare delivery operations throughout Asia and the Middle East. The company partnered with such key international investors as Bangkok Bank, Singapore-based Temasek Holdings, Hong Kong listed Asia Financial Holdings Ltd., and Istithmar World.
Initially, BIL had operational responsibility for Asian Hospital and Medical Center, a 250-bed Tertiary care facility located in south Metro Manila, Philippines. By early 2006, the company had entered into a joint venture to build and operate Bumrungrad Hospital Dubai (BHD)., however this project has been canceled. BIL went on to sign an agreement in 2007 with Healthcare Authority – Abu Dhabi to manage the Al Mafraq Hospital in Abu Dhabi City. In 2008, BIL ventured outside of the core Bumrungrad business of hospital operations when it completed the acquisition of Singapore-based Asia Renal Care Ltd., a kidney dialysis provider with numerous clinics throughout Asia, including Taiwan, Japan, Korea, Malaysia and the Philippines.
