Bumper Films

Bumper Films was a children's stop-motion production company founded by John Walker and Ian Frampton in 1982. It is best known for creating Fireman Sam in 1987-1994. It also created Joshua Jones in 1991-1992, Starhill Ponies in 1998-2001 and Rocky Hollow in 1983. The company was also used for S4C and BBC. In 2000, all the rights to Bumper Films (with Fireman Sam only) were sold to HiT Entertainment and Bumper Films was shut down.

The logo was two children on a bumper car with a yellow flag and black writing saying "BUMPER FILMS". The boy was enjoying the ride and the girl was looking through a telescope. The logo was accompanied by a whooshing sound as it appeared after the ending credits of a show. The logo can still be seen on Fireman Sam classic DVDs with HiT Entertainment and S4C logos at the copyright credit.

In 1992 when Joshua Jones aired on the BBC and in 1994 when fourth series of Fireman Sam aired on the BBC, the flag was changed to blue, the flag's writing was changed to white and the splash on the back was changed to smoke whooshes. only Joshua Jones and Fireman Sam were the only two Bumper Films and S4C shows to be conjected by Prism Art and Design Ltd.

When Starhill Ponies aired on CBBC in 1998, Bumper Films had a new logo, the boat was gone and just says 'Bumper Films' in turtqoiuse/blue Graffiti-bubble-type writing along with the Mike Young Productions, BBC Worldwide and S4C logos

In Welsh, Bumper Films is called Ffilmial Bumper.

Famous quotes containing the words bumper and/or films:

Do we honestly believe that hopeless kids growing up under the harsh new rules will turn out to be chaste, studious, responsible adults? On the contrary, by limiting welfare, job training, education and nutritious food, won’t we plant the seeds for another bumper crop of out-of-wedlock moms, deadbeat dads and worse?
    Richard B. Stolley (20th century)

If you want to know all about Andy Warhol, just look at the surface: of my paintings and films and me, and there I am. There’s nothing behind it.
    Andy Warhol (c. 1928–1987)
