BSA Rocket 3/Triumph Trident - Triumph X75 Hurricane

Triumph X75 Hurricane

USA BSA Vice-President Don Brown felt that the BSA/Triumph triples needed a different look to succeed in the USA, and he engaged designer Craig Vetter to give the BSA A75 a customised face-lift, with a brief to make it sleeker and more balanced. Brown revealed the Vetter project to Peter Thornton (President of BSA/Triumph North America). In October 1969, and Vetter was called to display his customised A75. Vetter's bike was then sent to the UK, but the bike had a lukewarm reception from chief designer Bert Hopwood; but after a positive public reaction to the design, the UK managers changed their minds and the Vetter BSA Rocket3 became the Triumph X75 Hurricane.

Famous quotes containing the words triumph and/or hurricane:

A villain must be a thing of power, handled with delicacy and grace. He must be wicked enough to excite our aversion, strong enough to arouse our fear, human enough to awaken some transient gleam of sympathy. We must triumph in his downfall, yet not barbarously nor with contempt, and the close of his career must be in harmony with all its previous development.
    Agnes Repplier (1858–1950)

Staid middle age loves the hurricane passions of opera.
    Mason Cooley (b. 1927)
