Bryan Grimes (November 2, 1828 – August 14, 1880) was a North Carolina plantation owner and a general officer in the Confederate Army during the American Civil War. He fought in nearly all of the major battles of the Eastern Theater of that war.
Grimes was the last man in the Army of Northern Virginia to be appointed by Robert E. Lee as a major general. He also led the final attack of that army shortly before its surrender to Union forces at Appomattox Court House on the morning of April 9, 1865.

Famous quotes containing the word bryan:
“Do you know I believe that [William Jennings] Bryan will force his nomination on the Democrats again. I believe he will either do this by advocating Prohibition, or else he will run on a Prohibition platform independent of the Democrats. But you will see that the year before the election he will organize a mammoth lecture tour and will make Prohibition the leading note of every address.”
—William Howard Taft (18571930)
