Bruce Bochy - Personal

Personal

Bochy is known for having one of the largest cap sizes in Major League Baseball at over size 8. When he joined the Mets in 1982, they did not have a helmet that would fit him, and they had to send the ones he was using in the minors. Bochy has a son who pitches professionally. Brett Bochy was drafted by the Giants in 2010.

Bochy is not publicly known for an out-going, humorous presence. However the opposite is true. "Fans rarely see it because he becomes a two-by-four when the TV cameras click on."

In May 2011, Bochy won the Ronald L. Jensen Award for Lifetime Achievement, which he accepted at the organization's National Youth Sports Awards.

Famous quotes containing the word personal:

The secret point of money and power in America is neither the things that money can buy nor power for power’s sake ... but absolute personal freedom, mobility, privacy. It is the instinct which drove America to the Pacific, all through the nineteenth century, the desire to be able to find a restaurant open in case you want a sandwich, to be a free agent, live by one’s own rules.
    Joan Didion (b. 1934)

Fine art is the subtlest, the most seductive, the most effective instrument of moral propaganda in the world, excepting only the example of personal conduct; and I waive even this exception in favor of the art of the stage, because it works by exhibiting examples of personal conduct made intelligible and moving to crowds of unobservant unreflecting people to whom real life means nothing.
    George Bernard Shaw (1856–1950)

It has no share in the leadership of thought: it does not even reflect its current. It does not create beauty: it apes fashion. It does not produce personal skill: our actors and actresses, with the exception of a few persons with natural gifts and graces, mostly miscultivated or half-cultivated, are simply the middle-class section of the residuum.
    George Bernard Shaw (1856–1950)
